ITACE for students

The ITACE is the Interuniversity Test of Academic English. This English language test was developed and is administered by the four Flemish university language centres belonging to UGent, KUL, UA and VUB.

The test comes in three variants. This page covers the ITACE for students. If you are looking for another variant, consult the ITACE for lecturers or ITACE for CLIL Teachers pages.

Non-native speakers of English wishing to pursue a UGent degree taught in English will need to demonstrate a thorough command of both written and spoken English. While this is the ITACE for students’ primary goal, it is also useful for those needing to demonstrate their command of the English language for other reasons, such as residences, internships, and emigration purposes.

Attention! The oral test takes place in the afternoon. A specific time slot will be communicated to you as soon as possible. 

Registration procedure

Step 1: UGent account

Registration for a UCT test requires access to a UGent account. Each UGent account has a username and password, and grants its users access to their personal UGent e-mail accounts. Please note that, due to privacy reasons, this e-mail address will be the only means through will you will be able to receive information about the test you have signed up for.

If you are already a UGent student, you will already have a UGent account. Proceed to step 2.

If you do not yet have a UGent account

• Go to Oasis, proceed to the bottom right of the page, and indicate that you wish to register for an account
• Provide the required information and follow the instructions on the page

Step 2: Online registration

You can register through UGent’s Oasis platform:

• Access Oasis
• Click 'UCT enrolment' on the left-hand side
• Click 'new enrolment application'
• Select the desired academic year
• Select 'General Language Courses English'
• Select the 'ITACE' module
• Find and select the exact session you would like to join
• Confirm twice

Step 3: Online payment

After registering, you will receive an e-mail from noreply.sap@ugent.be with an invoice attached. Your registration will be complete as soon as payment has been accepted. If you are registering fewer than two weeks before the date of the test, please pay the invoice within one day of receiving it.
