UCT
For participants with very good prior knowledge of Dutch, no prior knowledge is needed due to the close connection between German and Dutch. For participants with limited prior knowledge of Dutch, prior knowledge is needed (level A1): Speaking German is difficult: you can form a number of short sentences and your vocabulary range is limited to very general topics. You understand German speakers when they speak slowly and clearly. When reading general texts in German, you notice that many words and structures are unfamiliar to you. When writing German, you only use short, simple sentences. You are familiar with the present tense. During the first session, you take an orientation test. This way, the teacher can give more information about the feasability of the course (level, progression, etc.). You can be referred to a different course based on the outcome of the orientation test but you can only take that course if places are available.
There is a placement test and a final test.
Special information: If you want to get an idea of your knowledge of German you can do the test at Sprachtest.de.
